Broken Dove: Characters, spicy chapters, triggers & more

Broken Dove by Dani Francis continues where Silver Elite left off, with Wren Darlington and Xavier Ford having survived the Blacklands.

I don’t think it’s too presumptuous to predict that it’s going to have polarising opinions on the direction it takes.

I’ve written a book guide featuring everything you need to know about the characters, spice levels and where to find the spicy chapters. And I know everyone wants to know where to find that. So scroll down to the FAQs and spoilers section of this post if that’s what you’re after.

I’ve also listed trigger warnings, tropes and a few other bits and pieces, so you can decide if this is the book for you and if you’re going to continue the Silver Elite series.

Happy reading!

Broken Dove synopsis.

In the heart-pounding sequel to the New York Times bestselling dystopian romance Silver Elite, lines will be crossed, loyalties will be tested, and the fight for the Continent is only just beginning as Wren Darlington finds herself caught in the middle of two wars: one for the fate of her home and another for the fate of her heart.

LINES WILL BE CROSSED.

After blowing her cover as a double agent within Silver Elite and fleeing the Prime-controlled capital, Wren Darlington is finally safe behind allied lines. As her lover and former commander Cross Redden works to disrupt the Primes from inside their ranks, Wren turns her focus toward assisting the Uprising in overthrowing their rule once and for all.

LOYALTIES WILL BE TESTED.

Though she’s back among her own people, trust is hard-won and hidden agendas abound on the Mod base. And beyond those walls, Wren can’t help but worry that Cross is keeping secrets of his own . . . secrets that could jeopardize everything. Complicating matters even further is her shocking reunion with hotshot fighter pilot and undercover operative Grayson Blake. Once her closest friend in Silver Elite, Gray seems to understand Wren on a level she never thought possible.

AND THE FIGHT FOR THE CONTINENT IS ONLY JUST BEGINNING.

With the war between Mods and Primes growing more brutal by the day, and with her own role in the conflict becoming more essential than ever, Wren must confront some gut-wrenching questions. Who is she fighting for . . . and who is she willing to lose?

Broken Dove characters.

Broken Dove is narrated from a first person point of view, from Wren Darlington’s point of view with a prologue and an epilogue narrated by Cross Redden.

Main characters.

What do we have here? Three main characters? Indeed. I am going to say that the Kaine Sutler girlies will be pleased with the direction Broken Dove and its central characters take. Although if you’re not into love triangles, I’m not really too sure about how to break the news…

Wren Darlington.

Wren, also known by her real name, Stella Hess, develops quite a bit in Broken Dove. From learning how to harness her abilities to incite, as well as reflecting on her past mistakes as well as coming to terms with her impulsivity.

Cross Redden.

“You own me Dove. My heart, soul, body. It’s all yours. There could never be anybody else. Not in a million fucking lifetimes.”

Cross Redden narrates the prologue and epilogue and sadly, for the Cross girlies, he doesn’t get as much page time as he did in Silver Elite. However, don’t lose hope. That’s all I’ll say without spoilers.

Grayson Blake.

“I’m a man of many talents, Darlington. Haven’t you figured that out by now?”

Formerly known as Kaine Sutler, Grayson Blake plays a starring role in Broken Dove. He’s cheeky, confident and fun and gets way more page time in this book.

Yes, I guess you could call Broken Dove a love triangle although there is no cheating on partners. Wren and Cross come to an impasse of sorts and “break up.” Which leaves Wren in a cocoon of inner turmoil and hurt, but also with the avenue to explore new… possibilities with Grayson Blake. However, let’s not rule out that the ending makes it clear that Cross cannot be ruled out of endgame.
